Barnsdale Gardens & Rutland Water Cruise

Created by Geoff Hamilton for BBC Gardeners' World, Barnsdale Gardens, in Rutland, is Britain's largest collection of individually designed gardens. With over 38 individual gardens in an 8 acre site, there’s plenty to see and do. The inspiring range of garden styles and planting schemes have been referred to as a ‘theme park for gardeners’.

 
 

   
Beth Chatto Gardens & Clacton

 The Beth Chatto gardens began in 1960 when the site was an overgrown wasteland between to farms. Faced with all kinds of difficult conditions Beth and the late Andrew Chatto set out to find homes for many of the plants they wished to grow. With dry and damp soil in both sun and shade, they were able to put into practice the underlying principles of what is now referred to as "Ecological gardening".
