The Carnival in Maastricht is a wonderful event held once a year and has a real family atmosphere and is enjoyed by all.
Friday: After collecting you from your home address we make our way to Folkestone for the short Eurotunnel crossing to Calais and then onward to our hotel in Valkenburg arriving late afternoon. Today, and every day during your stay you can take advantage of the 3 hours free bar in the hotel - restrictions may apply.
Saturday: Today you will have a free day to explore Valkenburg at your leisure. A short walk will take you to the centre of town where a visit to the famous caves is a must. This afternoon we visit the little village of Thorn with its cobbled streets, beautiful Abbey Church and characterisitic white houses.
Sunday: After breakfast we make the short journey to nearby Maastricht for 'Carnival Sunday'. Maastricht carnival usually has street celebrations, a huge parade, live bands, plus endless happy faces. The magnificent costumes are one of the carnical's most impressive features. Many families spend months preparing weird and wonderful outfits, as everyone dresses up.
Monday: After breakfast we check-out of the hotel and make our way back home.
