Highlights of this popular tour include a horse-drawn canal boat journey along the beautiful clear waters of the Llangollen Canal to the aptly named Horseshoe Falls, a trip on the Llangollen Heritage railway and a visit to Portmerion

Monday: From our local departure points we travel west to our hotel, the Bryn Howel Hotel, which is located in a tranquil rural location next to the Llangollen canal.

Tuesday: Today we have time at leisure before we experience a 2 hour relaxing horse drawn canal boat trip, admiring the Chain Bridge across the River Dee and marvelling at the manmade Horseshoe Falls, a striking feature on the river, whilst gliding along the canal. This is a beautiful length of canal and the horse drawn trip is definitely the most peaceful and relaxing way to see it.

Wednesday: After breakfast we set off for the Snowdonia National Park travelling through the dramatically changing landscapes of Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog, as we make our way to Portmeirion, a village designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975. Portmeirion is home to Riviera inspired houses, ornamental gardens, stylish shops, exotic gardens, award winning restaurants and sandy beaches.

Thursday: This morning we head to the Llangollen Railway, which is primarily a steam hauled heritage railway. Our return rail journey begins beside the Dee River Bridge and continues for 10 miles upstream to Corwen, from where we enjoy spectacular views over the River Dee and the Berwyn mountain range. We have some time in Corwen before we make our return journey back to Llangollen, once again enjoying the breath taking views. We re-join the coach and continue to Chester for the afternoon.

Friday: After breakfast we leave the beautiful mountains of North Wales for our journey home.

The Bryn Howel Hotel Llangollen, Wales has traditionally styled bedrooms, a bright and airy restaurant with lovely views of the surrounding valley and a cosy bar offering a friendly welcome. There is also a lounge with comfortable sofas and armchairs. The hotel has a lift and ground floor rooms with tea/coffee facilities.
