The Isle of Wight is always a popular destination and this break combines some of the highlights of the island including a circular island tour, and a visit to Ventnor Botanic Gardens.
Saturday: After collection from local pick-up points we make our way to Portsmouth for the short ferry crossing to Fishbourne. On arrival at the hotel, enjoy a welcome drink whilst luggage is taken to your rooms.
Sunday: All aboard the coach for a circular tour of the island. The island boasts 60 miles of spectacular coastline and stunning scenery. Amazing ocean views may be had when we visit the famous Needles and Trinity Lighthouse – one of the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmarks.
Monday: Today gives you the opportunity to explore at your leisure. You might explore Ryde or take the railway to one of the other small towns around the island. The railway offers inexpensive, regular and efficient service, from the station just across the road from our hotel.
Tuesday: This morning we visit Ventnor Botanic Gardens. Set in a unique microclimate, sheltered from cold winds, the garden is able to support many tropical plants that would not survive the cold climate of most of the rest of the country. We continue to the picture-postcard village of Godshill, with its quaint thatched cottages and traditional local pubs that are set around pretty All Saints Church.
Wednesday: Today we travel to Sandown which sits on the Isle of Wight coast, in a beautiful sheltered bay. Famed for its long golden sandy beach, traditional seafront and pier, Sandown has a range of great attractions, independent shops and relaxing walks, perhaps a deckchair and an ice cream would make the perfect day, Sandown has it all.
Thursday: After breakfast we check-out of the hotel and make our way back home.
The Royal Esplanade Hotel is located in a superb seaside location, close to the promenade in the heart of the pretty resort of Ryde close to the centre of town. The hotel restaurant overlooks the promenade with separate bar and lounge areas. The hotel has regular entertainment. It has a lift, but also has some steps into the hotel; some rooms have steps leading into them.
