Cornwall has long been famous for its climate, glorious beaches and spectacular scenery, as well as pasties, cream teas and of course gardens. On this tour we can enjoy late summer in The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trebah Gardens. We also include a visit to the famous Eden Project.

Sunday: From local pick-up points we make our way south to our hotel.

Monday: Today we have a full day to relax and explore Newquay with its busy town centre and impressive old harbour.

Tuesday: No visit to Cornwall would be complete without a visit to the award winning Eden Project, where giant biomes create spectacular gardens including one housing the largest rainforest in captivity, together with stunning plants and exhibitions.

Wednesday: After breakfast, we travel to the Trebah Gardens on the south coast, a sub-tropical paradise with a stunning coastal backdrop, this is a garden for all seasons. Enjoy Hydrangea Valley in late summer, two acres of Hydrangeas border the banks of Mallard Pond and are mirrored in its tranquil water. The vibrant blue colouring is due to Trebah's rich acid soil; planted in the 1950s the cut blooms used to be sent to Covent Garden flower market to raise income for the garden.

Thursday: Today we enjoy a day out at the largest garden restoration in Europe. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, discovered by chance some 25 years ago, have now been restored to be one of the finest gardens in Cornwall. We can amble along ancient woodland pathways created 200 years ago to discover the Giant’s Head, Mudmaid and Grey Lady, or wander through tropical gardens along raised boardwalks that snake around four ponds, past giant rhubarb, banana plantations and avenues of palms. This is a memorable garden.

Friday: We say a sad farewell to Cornwall and make our way back home to East Anglia.

The Esplanade Newquay is perfectly situated opposite Fistral Beach with outstanding views of the bay. All bedrooms in this contemporary hotel are stylishly decorated, there is a spacious bar, lounge and restaurant, which all offer fantastic views out to sea. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, spa and sauna. The hotel has a lift, TV, Wi-Fi and tea/coffee facilities in rooms.
