With its colourful promenades, sandy beaches, Victorian pier and quaint shopping streets, it is not hard to understand why Eastbourne has been attracting holiday makers since Victorian times. In addition to plenty of time in resort, this tour includes a visit to vibrant Brighton, a trip on the Bluebell Railway and a visit to Borde Hill Garden.
Monday: From our local departure points, we journey to Eastbourne where we are welcomed with tea or coffee on arrival at our hotel.
Tuesday: Today we travel east along the Sussex Heritage Coast to Beachy Head, the UK's highest chalk sea cliff. We journey on to Seaford and Newhaven before arriving in Brighton where we will have time at leisure. Originally a fishing village, Brighton is now a vibrant city with a cosmopolitan air. Not to be missed is the Royal Pavilion, George IV’s spectacular seaside palace, Brighton’s famous Pier and The Lanes - a historic network of narrow city streets full of character.
Wednesday: Today is at leisure to enjoy the facilities at the hotel or discover the delights that Eastbourne has to offer.
Thursday: Today we step back in time and start our day at the famous Bluebell Railway , as seen in Downton Abbey, where we enjoy a relaxing journey in timeless comfort on board a steam locomotive. This is followed by a leisurely wander in Borde Hill Garden , where the summer’s warmth brings out the glorious fragrance of the rose garden, herbaceous borders add a blaze of colour, and the sub-tropical dells offer an air of exotic mystery.
Friday: This morning, after checking-out of our hotel, we travel along the coast via Hastings to Rye before making our way home to East Anglia.
