Day by day
- Day 1
Tuesday
Depart from your local pick-up point and travel north to the Preston/Lancaster area, where we enjoy an overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast before continuing our journey to the Isle of Man the following day.
- Day 2
Wednesday
After breakfast, we leave our overnight hotel and make our way towards Heysham. There will be time to enjoy one of the nearby West Coast seaside resorts before we board our afternoon ferry across the Irish Sea to Douglas. On arrival on the Isle of Man, we continue to the Chesterhouse Hotel, our home for the next four nights, arriving with time to settle in before dinner.
- Day 3
Thursday
This morning we experience one of the island’s most celebrated attractions as we board the historic Isle of Man Steam Railway. Sit back and enjoy a nostalgic journey through the beautiful Manx countryside to the seaside village of Port Erin, where you’ll have free time to explore the waterfront and surrounding town. Later, we continue to historic Castletown, the island’s former capital and one of the oldest towns in the British Isles. Here you’ll have the opportunity to discover its attractive harbour and see the imposing Castle Rushen, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval castles, before our scenic journey back to Douglas.
- Day 4
Friday
Today we visit one of the Isle of Man’s most recognisable landmarks, the magnificent Great Laxey Wheel. Also known as Lady Isabella, this remarkable feat of Victorian engineering is the world’s largest surviving original working waterwheel and a lasting reminder of the island’s mining heritage. We then return to Douglas for an afternoon at leisure. Explore the attractive promenade and town centre, relax in one of the cafés, or perhaps visit the Manx Museum to discover more about the island’s fascinating 10,000-year history.
- Day 5
Saturday
Today we explore the contrasting east and west coasts of the island. Our first destination is Ramsey, a peaceful harbour town nestled beneath the slopes of North Barrule. Enjoy time to explore its sweeping shoreline, harbour and town centre before we continue our island tour. Later, we travel to the historic fishing port of Peel on the west coast. Set around a picturesque bay, Peel is known for its traditional fishermen’s cottages, winding streets and impressive red sandstone castle overlooking the sea. Enjoy time to wander around the harbour, explore the town or simply take in the coastal views before returning to Douglas for our final evening
- Day 6
Sunday
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the Isle of Man and board the morning ferry from Douglas to Heysham. On arrival back on the mainland, we rejoin our coach and continue our homeward journey to East Anglia.
