Long Stratton Road Closure

Ipswich Road in Long Stratton is closed at the junction of Parkers Road until 12th September 2025. Buses on route 82 will divert via Long Stratton Bypass, but will still serve the majority of Long Stratton village (by entering the village at the Norwich end, turning around using Manor Road, and going back out of the village the same way they came in).

The Lime Tree Avenue and Police Station bus stops will not be served for the duration of these works. Minor delays are expected on route 82 as a result of these works.

73A timetable change

From September 2025, there is a minor timetable change to route 73A. The morning bus will operate to a revised timetable, leaving earlier from Diss, in order to ensure an on time arrival into Thurston Community College.

Castle Meadow resurfacing - August and September 2025

Resurfacing works are being undertaken on Castle Meadow in August and September 2025. This will cause disruption to bus routes 82, PR2 and PR3.

Sunday 31st August 2025 - all day

Postwick Park & Ride route PR3 will divert between Norwich Railway Station and Norwich Bus Station. Castle Meadow will not be served in either direction. Get on and off the bus at Norwich Bus Station (Stand F) instead.

Routes 82 and PR2 will not be affected on this day.

Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd September - 19:00 to end of service

From 19:00 onwards, Harford Park & Ride routes 82 and PR2 will divert between Norwich Bus Station and Prince of Wales Road. Castle Meadow will not be served in either direction. Get on and off the bus at Norwich Bus Station (Stand F) instead.

From 19:00 onwards, Postwick Park & Ride route PR3 will divert between Norwich Railway Station and Norwich Bus Station. Castle Meadow will not be served in either direction. Get on and off the bus at Norwich Bus Station (Stand H) instead.

Route 72

From Friday 5th September, we will be operating Route 72 on Fridays only (except Good Friday), linking Gislingham to Eye and Diss. It operates one journey in each direction per day.

Evening roadworks affecting route 82

Tarmac, on behalf of Norfolk County Council, are undertaking carriageway resurfacing works on the A140 Ipswich Road between 8th and 12th September 2025, and again between 15th and 19th September 2025. This means that the A140 will be closed to traffic after 20:00 on these days between the Harford P&R roundabout and Newton Flotman. However, arrangements have been made for our buses on route 82 to be escorted through the roadworks.

This affects the following departures on route 82:

20:17 and 22:17 from Norwich
21:10 from Roydon

These buses will follow their normal route, and will not miss any bus stops. However delays of 10-15 minutes are possible, as the bus will be travelling at reduced speed, accompanied by traffic management escort vehicles, whilst it passes through the roadworks area.

Passengers with valid First tickets may travel on these three route 82 journeys between Norwich and Long Stratton (in both directions) at no additional cost, should they wish to do so, whilst these roadworks are taking place.
